GOOGLE'S BARD AI - $100 BILLION LOSS
ALPHABET LOST $100 BILLION

Google made an announcement about its chatbot, Bard AI, while everyone is talking about the use of chatGPT. ChatGPT is developed by OpenAI, and it drew the attention of around 1 million users in just 5 days after its November 2022 launch. It is one of the fastest consumer product launches in history and the hottest topic evolving in the tech world. ChatGPT is used to generate scripts, essays, and song lyrics in accordance with the user prompts. It also write emails and do accounting work in a very easy way. But the ChatGPT is not up-to-date. It is trained based on the dataset up to 2021 only. Instead, Bard AI is found to be up-to-date.
GOOGLE - TECH GIANT
We all knew that Google has billions of users for its services and products. People use the Google search bar often to get relevant responses to their own queries. If our query is in direct manner, we would get result in a easy way. If not, it suggests many websites and blogs related to our query, and we should find the answer. But the Bard AI analyses the whole set of data that it contains and generates a simplified response for the user.
Google’s Bard is based on the language model called LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications). It was trained based on a dataset called Infiniset. According to Google and Alphabet CEO, the Bard AI is expected to replace the iconic Google search bar. As the Bard AI is capable of generating high-quality responses to user's search queries and also simplifying the content in a conversational manner.
HOW ALPHABET LOST $100 BILLION DOLLARS?
The tech giant made a promotional video for Bard AI and uploaded it to Twitter. It promises that it will help simplify complex topics. In the tweet, there was a short GIF video of Bard in action.
In the short GIF, the Bard AI provided an incorrect answer to a question. The question was:
"What new discoveries from the James Webb Space Telescope can I tell my 9 year old about?".
The Bard AI provided some results in a simplified manner that contains nearly 3 to 4 points. But later, an error was found in the Bard AI’s generated response.
It says that,
JSWT took the very first pictures of a planet outside of our solar system. These distant worlds are called "exoplanets." EXO means "from outside."
But this was factually incorrect.

According to NASA, the first picture of these exoplanets was taken by the European Southern Observatory’s very large telescope in 2004.
Thus, the inaccurate information provided by Google’s AI chatbot Bard caused Google’s parent company Alphabet to lose $100 billion in market value.
WHAT GOOGLE'S SPOKESPERSON SAYS?
After this issue, a Google spokesperson says,
"This highlights the importance of a rigorous testing process, something that we're kicking off this week with our Trusted Tester program." "We'll combine external feedback with our own internal testing to make sure Bard's responses meet a high bar for quality, safety, and groundedness in real-world information."
On this path towards artificial intelligence, China’s tech company Baidu has also announced that it is going to launch a chatbot called "Ernie Bot" (Ernie: Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration), similar to ChatGPT.
Thus, the AI war has begun. The world is rushing towards artificial intelligence, which is being implemented in almost all fields. Will Google's Bard AI be a tough competitor to ChatGPT? Will it give better response? Give your opinion about this in the comments.
