A Pre-School Class goes to the aquarium on a field trip.
Student: Ashley
Teacher: Ms. Time
Tour Guide: Zion
Student: Crane
Zion: Students this is the Famous Fish Wall. This is the home of the famous yellow and orange fish that you see on television.
Class: Wow.
Ms. Time: Alright class. We have come to the final part of our tour at the aquarium. Guess what time it is?
Class: Storytime.
Ms. Time: Guess what time it is?
Class: Storytime.
Ms. Time: Yes. Storytime. This is a part of our normal routine, where we sit and listen to a story. Since we are in a different location today, lets do something a little different. Normally, Ms. Time does the storytime, but today one of you will create your very own story. Who wants to share a story?
Ooh Me! All the students exclaim.
Okay that’s everyone. Thanks for participating students. Ashley. I pick you to share a story.
Ashley: Yay! It was a wet and warmy night. (She chuckles)
The entire class bursts into laughter.
I’m just kidding classmates. Here’s my story. I will name the yellow fish Liz and the orange fish Adam. Those are my grandparents’ name.
Crane: I can tell a better story than her. (He yells as he pouts)
Ms. Time: Crane, no interrupting your fellow classmates. That is our classroom rule number three. Each student will eventually get an opportunity to create a fun story in front of the entire class. We must exhibit patience and understanding. What do you need to say Crane?
Crane: Sorry I interrupted your story, Ashley.
Ms. Time: Thank you Crane. Ashley has the floor. Students give her your undivided attention. Please continue Ashley.
Ashley: It’s a normal day inside the aquarium. An older green fish passes by and says, “Morning, yall. How’s the water?”
Adam turned to Liz and said, “What is water?”
Liz: Water. What is that?
Adam: That fish is weird.
Liz: Yeah. He is. Wait. I think we heard about water in school yesterday.
Adam: Yep. It was H… h…
Liz: Ugh. H…H2O.
Adam: Yeah! (They high five each other)
Liz: Good deal. We’re going to ace the science test next week.
Adam: Do you believe in water?
Liz: I’m not sure; I have never seen it in person.
Adam: I know. Me neither.
Liz: Water sound like a foreign object.
Adam: Like I don’t want no water near me.
Liz: Mr. Time said we will sometimes feel water when it rains.
Adam: Yuck. Sounds gross.
Liz: I prefer the air we breathe in the deep blue ocean.
Adam: Ha ha. Me too.
The End Class
The Class claps with excitement.
Ms. Time: Excellent Ashley. I like the way you incorporated the aquarium and sight words. She shared her grandparents’ name with us. That’s a perfect segment into connectivity. Remember that word class. Connectivity, repeat after me, connectivity.
Class: Connect-iv-ity.
Ms. Time: Good. Connectivity. Connectivity is how we connect to the word. Gratitude. We show gratitude during Thanksgiving. When you spend the Thanksgiving Holiday with your family express gratitude. Be grateful. Give thanks. Give thanks for your family, friends, food, home, school, water, and love. Give thanks for your Teacher Ms. Time too. (Students chuckle) Practice being grateful this holiday season. Okay. That’s all for today students. We have finished our tour today at the aquarium. Did everyone have fun learning?
Class: Yes.
Ms. Time: Awesome Sauce. Let’s practice gratitude. Let’s thank our Tour Guide Zion for helping us today.
Class: Thank you Zion.
