F5IFF2025 Draws Global Attention as the World’s Only International Film Festival on Environment and Climate Change
Scheduled for the first week of September, the 2025 edition of the Fest5 International Film Festival (F5IFF’25) is set to make waves as the world’s only international film festival dedicated exclusively to environment and climate change.

With over 375 submissions from more than 60 countries, this year’s edition places a strong spotlight on environmental awareness and heritage conservation through the powerful medium of cinema. Filmmakers from across continents have come forward to share stories of ecological urgency, sustainability, and cultural preservation.
“We are overwhelmed by the widespread response from filmmakers across the globe,” said Sourav De, Festival Director. “This underlines the urgency and relevance of such a festival, aiming at greater awareness among film buffs in particular and citizens in general about climate urgency.”

Among the noteworthy entries this year is “Kuthood”, a contemplative film exploring human-nature relationships in a rapidly urbanizing world. “Ballad of the Mountain” brings a lyrical yet haunting tale of disappearing landscapes and tribal resilience. “The Island” presents a gripping narrative about climate migration and ecological displacement.
“Yamuna’s Sewage Treatment”, a hard-hitting documentary, delves into the harsh realities of pollution in one of India’s most sacred rivers, while “Tiger Anthem” celebrates wildlife conservation through an artistic portrayal of the majestic big cat and its vanishing habitat.
The previous edition, F5IFF’24, held at the prestigious National Library of India auditorium, received rave reviews from critics and media alike for curating a relevant and thought-provoking lineup of films. It brought together environmentalists, film professionals, students, and citizens in a collective dialogue on pressing global issues.
#F5IFF’25 continues that legacy, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability, green storytelling, and cultural heritage. The festival offers not just screenings but also discussions, panels, and collaborative opportunities for those working at the intersection of art and ecology.
As climate conversations become increasingly urgent, F5IFF stands out as a beacon of awareness, education, and cinematic excellence. With films that challenge perspectives and inspire action, it reinforces the role of cinema as a catalyst for change.
This year, we received over 375 submissions from more than 60 countries, each showcasing an extraordinary range of talent, creativity, and perspectives. While every submission added something valuable to the conversation, a select few rose above — not because they fit a mold, but because they broke it. These standout films challenge norms, push boundaries, and invite us to see the world through a new lens.
At F5IFF’25, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on the films that have truly moved us — works that embody the spirit of innovation, courage, and cultural curiosity that define who we are as a festival.
As a festival deeply committed to the themes that shape our global future, we were especially inspired by films that confront pressing #environmental challenges and celebrate the richness of diverse #cultural narratives.
We’re honored to share these incredible stories with you, and we remain excited to continue amplifying the voices of #filmmakers who are shaping the future of cinema — one frame at a time.
