Blog Commenting, My New Favorite Thing
Blog Commenting, My New Favorite Thing

This year has gotten off to a great start. I can’t believe we are already more than half way through January and at the beginning of next week, my blog will celebrate it’s 2 month anniversary. How cool is that!
I have really been enjoying my journey as I learn what it takes to become a super affiliate. Joining the “Forward to Marketing” training community was one of the best decisions I have made.
I’ve had success online but I didn’t have a plan that actually got me there. I kind of stumbled into it which is why I wanted to be a part of this experience.
I wanted to start from scratch and learn what the right steps are from the very beginning.
I haven’t done too shabby in the traffic department up to now. I’ve received the majority of my traffic from article marketing and videos.
Yep, I’m a big article writer which is why writing articles and blog posts can be very time consuming.
I also do a lot of video tutorials showing people how to do things online. I’ve learned a lot of different ways to drive traffic to my site but some haven’t been very successful.
That is why I am a part of this training community. I wanted to learn some more productive ways to go about doing this from someone who already has a very successful business.

I’ve known about blog commenting for years now and I’ve visited other blogs from time to time and even left a comment or two.
It just seemed like I never had enough time to hop around to other people’s blogs with everything else I had on my plate.
I have even been a member of a few “Tribes”. They are great because you have a group of people who will go around and comment on other people’s blogs in that tribe.
I know how powerful blog commenting can be for getting more views to your posts and more traffic to your site. It’s just that the majority of blogs that I was visiting were not in my niche.
I had learned that if I visit a weight loss blog and leave a comment the search engines aren’t going to view that as a relative link because it has nothing to do with that particular niche.
Then we have the people who visit my blog from those sites who aren’t going to be interested in what I have to share because again, it has nothing to do with their niche.
I did the search on Google for my term, “affiliate marketing + blogs” but found that only 5 of the blogs on the first page had recent content.
You can imagine how lucky I got finding fresh content on pages 2, 3 and 4 as well. What’s up with that!
The next thing I did was to head over to Google Alerts and I typed in my keyword again.
I only wanted to receive alerts from blogs. The problem I found with that search was that the majority of the alerts have been from articles that don’t allow comments.
Talk about a frustrating experience! I had no idea it would be this hard to find good new content to comment on in my niche.
I also searched for top blogs in my niche, visited blog directories, visited dofollow directories but still fell short when it came to finding good and new relevant content.
That’s why I just threw my hands up and moved on to other things. Didn’t give blog commenting another thought. That is until recently.
I was looking around in the “Forward to Marketing” forum one day and came across a post where other team members were sharing their links to the blogs they had created.
It was a great way for us to visit each others sites, see how everyone else is doing and leave a comment. So I set aside the time, visited each blog, read the posts and left a comment.
In return, most of them did the same for me and it was great to see some comments finally being left on my blog. It makes this journey all worthwhile.
As I was on each of these blogs I decided to follow a few of the other people who had also left comments over to their site to see what their blogs were about. This is where it got really interesting.
I started finding some really awesome content so I took the time to read their posts and also leave a comment.
Now I confess, my original intention was to just get more traffic to my site and hopefully more blog comments and retweets for my posts.
But I soon found myself engaged in this process because each blog I visited I started learning something new.
Of course my comments were very genuine because I was so thrilled to have stumbled upon some of this information.
Next thing you know, the owners of those blogs are now visiting mine and leaving me some really great comments. Some of them included some really awesome tips that I have started implementing as well.
I could have literally kicked myself in the butt for not having done this sooner.
So my initial intention was to get more traffic to my site but what I learned from this experience is that not only can you get more traffic to your blog, you can really learn some new things from
other people and even form some really great friendships along the way.
This is the reason that blog commenting is my new favorite thing. I will put aside the time each and every week to visit other blogs and leave my comments.
I sure hope you haven’t been as closed minded as I was regarding this topic. Be more open, locate people who have common interests and start commenting on their blogs. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
