Art Heals
The Circle That Heals...a symbol for a new global consciousness

This is my first Vocal submission. What an exciting topic and so full of potential. The passion in my life revolves around an image that was gifted to me one night when I was using art to heal my heart.
In 1991 my heart took quite a beating in the form of a very insidious betrayal. No pun intended. I didn't see the red flags, I just never saw it coming. I suppose the saying, "blinded by love" comes into play here. The pain of the event completely derailed me and it took some time to get my bearings again. Art is what helped in a big way. It was therapeutic. I would spend hours playing with the words heal, heart and earth, creating crossword puzzle designs because I loved how the words meshed together. It became a sort of meditative process to resolve my "whys". I would ask, "What is the silver lining in this heartbreak?" One evening I was visited by three Spirit guides who leaned over and whispered in my ear, "Put these words in a circle and you will understand what we are trying to tell you." I did just that and created The Circle That Heals...the symbol for a new global consciousness.
The first thing I noticed was the four Hs fell into the four directions, reflecting a Medicine wheel. The circle holds the energy of profound ancient wisdoms. The more I played with the circle, the more teachings unfolded. There are ten words that fall naturally around the circle; Heal, Health, Heart, Hearth, Earth, Hear, Ear, Art, The, He. Each of these words is repeated twice in the circle, teaching us about mirrors. The word The appears four times; is a bridge between the words Heal and Heart and reminds us that we are bridges between the Sprit world and the physical plane. Love is a bridge connecting two hearts. The word He is an acronym for Human Experience, reminding us that we are Spirits having a human experience. Each of these words helps to create the connection of the healing of our hearts and the healing of the earth.
There are no weakest links. Every person has a part to play. If you remove a letter from this circle, the circle loses its message; it's incomplete in the same way, we have all heard of a person being the weakest link and removed from a group for fear that they will bring the group down. My truth is that the person has a valuable point of view to be considered that could potentially create a stronger whole. Every creature and person on this planet has a reason for being here. There is no hierarchy in a circle, and when used as a business model can open doors to endless possibilities of new ways of doing business. All living beings mirror a part of something greater than ourselves that resides within. No matter our race, creed, colour or stature, without each other, the circle would be incomplete.
When we learn to make choices about our lives that are centered from our hearts, we begin to see that not all rewards come in the form of dollars and cents. We see rewards where pollution is not a by product. And continually seeking outside influences to make us feel good can wrap our hearts in yet another bandage until we realize that slowly we have begun to suffocate.
A basic teaching of life is to seek your inner happiness, listen to your heart and seek your highest good. Be at peace with your higher self by whatever name you may call this power. If your heart is happy, share that. If your heart is sad, share that too. For it is in the sharing that we begin to unwrap our bandages and allow the healing process to occur. Our hearts are a direct line to our intuition or higher selves.
The circle reminds us that life is lived in cycles. It ebbs and flows. What goes 'round, comes' round and as we accept our responsibility for feeling better about ourselves, we see this reflected in our environment, which in turn encourages our personal growth.
Learning to lead with our hearts removes judgement. Our hearts only speak the truth and there is no room for judgement in the truth. If we truly want to create a better world, the process begins within each of our hearts. The human quality of personal responsibility soars above racial or economic boundaries. It is free, as is your right to choose.
Its time to put down the weapons and pick up a paint brush; drop our fists and learn to dance; lower our voices and start to sing.
It's time to heal.
Art/creativity in any of its forms; painting, music, singing, dance can take us there. Art puts us into the "Zone" where we can flow the loving, healing, creative Source energy. We can create through joy or through pain; but we humans can't not create!
Art began with the cavemen who danced around fires and drew stories on the walls of the caves.
Art is critical in our lives and must be kept alive in our educational systems. When a person finds their voice through the Arts, they become confident. Confident people create healthy communities and healthy communities create sustainable practices for the earth. It's a win, win in a fun and playful way. It is my aim to create funding to support arts programs and scholarships through membership, special events and product sales.
