You’ll need a Pentalobe screwdriver to open up the bottom case, carefully disconnect the battery (seriously, don’t skip this), and then remove the display assembly by detaching the display cables and unscrewing the hinges. The trickiest part is handling the display cables because they’re delicate, and if you tear them, you’re in for a bad time. eBay and specialized Mac parts stores usually have good replacements, but be ready to spend at least $200–$300 for a quality one. Avoid cheap knockoffs—color accuracy and brightness can be garbage on those.
